Hi all, I am new to this forum and need some advice in teaching an 8 year old boy with ALD. He had a BMT in January of this year. I did a home visit for the first time on Thursday and got to see him for the first time since he left for Amplatz Children’s hospital. These were my observations. His eye sight seemed non track able, he continuously rolled his eyes upward and to the right, his mother assisted him in walking, his localization of sound was about a 3-5 second delay, and his skin color was gray or a bronze type shade, he did seem aware of some of his surrounding, and was able to hold some cards he got from his classmates, but within minutes they would fall out of his hand. I was wondering if there was anything out there teacher or parent who could give advice on teaching a boy with ALD, tricks, techniques that worked, motivational ideas, anything would help. I have never dealt with a medically fragile student, but have been researching intensively. Thank you. Jen
